Sunday October 20th St Luke's Day
Welcome to St Luke’s. If you are new or visiting, we are glad you are with us and we pray you are blessed and encouraged in your faith.
Today is the day we celebrate St Luke’s life and ministry. Luke was a doctor and careful historical writer who wrote one of the gospels and after accompanying Paul during some of his gospel-sharing trips, wrote the book of Acts. Luke gave special prominence to Jesus’ power to heal sickness in his gospel, and Luke also highlighted Jesus’ concern for justice, especially for the poor and those on the fringes of society.
We will enjoy a special morning tea after the service to celebrate St Luke’s Day.
Prayer of the day
Almighty God, who inspired your servant Luke the physician to set forth in his gospel the love and healing power of your Son: graciously continue in your Church this love and power to heal, to the praise and glory of your name; through Jesus Christ our
Lord, who lives and reigns with you, in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever. Amen.
